Awaken the wisdom within and explore the foundations of Yin Yoga in this 10-hour introductory program designed for teachers and practitioners seeking to expand their study.

Guided by Sarah Beston, this immersive experience is designed for both yoga teachers and dedicated practitioners. You’ll explore the foundations of this slow, contemplative practice that nourishes body, mind, and energy—laying the groundwork for further study.

What You’ll Learn in Part 1:

1. Foundations of Yin Yoga

  • Introduction to the philosophy and origins of Yin Yoga

  • Understanding the functional approach to asana and individual anatomy

  • How long-held poses impact the body’s deeper tissues

2. Anatomy & Physiology

  • Key differences between muscular and connective tissue engagement

  • An overview of fascia, joints, ligaments, and tendons in Yin practice

3. Yin Poses in Practice

  • Review of foundational Yin Yoga postures

  • Pose breakdowns with alignment principles and functional considerations

  • Variations and modifications to support different bodies

  • Exploring the energetic qualities and meridian connections of each pose

4. Mindfulness & Meditation

  • Cultivating mindfulness and presence through slow, deliberate practice

  • Techniques to enhance self-awareness both on and off the mat

5. Introduction to Meridian Theory

  • A snapshot of Traditional Chinese Medicine’s approach to Qi (energy) flow

  • How meridian theory supports emotional well-being and organ health

*This is Part 1 of a two-part Yin Yoga Teacher Training certification. No prior teaching experience is required, and you may choose to take one or both sections. Please note: the full teacher training certification is only awarded upon completion of both parts. Part 2 will build upon this foundation with a deeper focus on teaching methodology, advanced sequencing, and the full application of meridian theory. Both are eligible for Yoga Alliance Continuing Education (YACEP) CEUs.

About Sarah

Sarah Beston is a yoga & meditation teacher, mind-body & somatics practitioner, and writer based in Los Angeles. Through her teachings and guidance, Sarah hopes to inspire others to overcome self-imposed limitations, helping them to uncover their individual truths and (re)discover their most authentic selves. Her Body Wisdom™ coaching programs and retreats blend ancient wisdom with modern science while pulling from the traditions of yoga, spiritual healing, positive psychology, somatics, and mindfulness. Sarah holds her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Spirituality and Mind Body Practice from Columbia University. She is an instructor at Columbia Business School’s Venture for All program, where she teaches courses on spiritual entrepreneurship and venture creation.
